The United States has donated to the Croatian Armed Forces the state-of-the-art army training simulation system SAAT, and the official ceremony in Petrinja on Monday at which the equipment was handed over to the Croatian army was attended by Defence Minister Damir Krsticevic and US Ambassador Julieta Valls Noyes.
SAAT (Small Arm Tactical Training System) is an indoor virtual shooting range with 10 training and shooting lanes using training ammunition.
Expressing gratitude for the donation, Minister Krsticevic said that the USA was Croatia's most important strategic partner in the field of defence and security.
"The value of this donation exceeds its price. It is yet another confirmation of the friendly relations between the USA and Croatia. The United States is our key ally and we take part in joint exercises, in training and peace-building operations abroad, in the fight against ISIS and the growing radicalism, and I believe that this is the right path and that there will be more such examples," Krsticevic said, underlining the importance of the donation.
US Ambassador Valls Noyes said Croatia was an important factor of stability in this part of Southeast Europe. She recalled that the USA and Croatia had so far cooperated successfully in the interest of peace in Afghanistan and Kosovo, noting that she believed the successful cooperation would continue.
The SAAT training system is worth around one million US dollars, it was said at the ceremony.
