US ambassador visits Mother's Story Croatian House

US Ambassador to Croatia Julieta Valls Noyes on Sunday visited the Mother's Story Croatian House in downtown Zagreb with her husband and 20 embassy staffers, where they were briefed about Croatia's cultural heritage, customs and crafts.

After hearing stories about the tradition of furniture and clothes making, cooking, and gingerbread heart ornaments, the ambassador said the Croatian House was a real find for them, that it was nice and instructive and that they would come again.

Among other things, the guests were acquainted with Croatia's ethnic heritage and rural traditions, shown how to make and decorate gingerbread heart ornaments, which are on UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage, and tasted traditional pastries and wine.
