The registered unemployment rate in Croatia increased in December 2015 for the fourth consecutive month, from 17.7 per cent in November to 17.9 per cent, figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics (DZS) on Friday show.
The unemployment rate had been on the decline until September thanks to seasonal hiring in tourism.
Unemployment in December 2015 was 1.5 percentage points lower than in December 2014, when it was 19.4 per cent. It continued to grow in 2016, and daily figures available on the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ) website show that 293,200 people are currently unemployed, or 7,700 more than at the end of last year.
