Two births, 2 deaths among refugees passing through Croatia

A total of 526,545 migrants have passed through Croatia on their route from the Middle East and north Africa to western Europe since the spillover of the refugee crisis to Croatia in mid-September, according to updated figures provided by the Croatian interior ministry on Tuesday.

During this migrant influx, two refugee pregnant women have given birth in Croatia and on Monday evening the second delivery of a refugee Syrian woman's baby girl was performed in the hospital in the eastern city of Slavonski Brod where the winter reception centre is located, according to a statement given by the local police spokeswoman Kata Nujic.

So far, two refugees have died in Croatia and the last case was registered on Sunday when a 59-year-old man who suffered from chronic diseases passed away.

Over the past few days the Slavonski Brod centre has been catering for 3,000 migrants on a daily basis.
