Last year absorption of European Union (EU) funds was modest for small and medium enterprises amounting to a mere HRK 57 million and the aim is to draw ten times as much this year, Minister of Entrepreneurship and Crafts Darko Horvat, said on Tuesday at a presentation of projects to be financed with EU grants.
"If 2015 was modest with regard to absorbing funds and in the segment of small and medium entrepreneurship only HRK 57 million was drawn, we want to conclude this year with ten-time higher absorption. Our aim is that this year ends with contracts to the value of HRK 500 million,"said Horvat, while presenting projects that have met the criteria in public tenders advertised by the ministry as part of the Competitiveness and Cohesion OP 2014 - 2020.
Grants were issued in amounts of more than HRK 82 million and have boosted investments of more than HRK 258 million, Horvat said, adding that the investments will open about 200 jobs.
Tenders for projects for investment in production technology, building production capacities and investment in equipment have been combined into a joint tender for Innovation and competence development of SMEs with HRK 867 million available. Applications can be submitted until 31 December 2016.
A tender for tourism projects with HRK 304 million available has also been advertised and applications can be submitted until 31 December 2016.
