Serb representatives in Vukovar don't attend Victory Day observance

Political representatives of Croatian Serbs did not take part this year either in observing Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and Croatian Veterans Day in Vukovar, although they were invited at a City Council session.

Not one Serb councillor showed up at Vukovar's Memorial Cemetery on Friday. After laying a wreath there, Council chair Igor Gavric said Serbs' political representatives never attended wreath-laying at the cemetery on a national holiday and that by doing so, they disrespected Croatia. " I hope that will change and that the time will come when they will accept the fact they live in a free Croatia, which is their country too."

Assistant War Veterans Minuster Stjepan Sucic said, "They are Croatian citizens and it would be appropriate, if they participate in everything, if they also participated in the values on which the Croatian state was created, and that's certainly the Homeland War."
