Entrepreneurship is an important lever of development and women have an indisputable role in it, the 1st congress of self-employed women entrepreneurs in Croatia heard on Tuesday.
Sanela Dropulic, head of the Virtual Women Entrepreneurs' Centre, which organised the event, said its purpose was to encourage an exchange of information, technologies and innovations and to encourage women to become more involved in entrepreneurship.
Addressing the event, SMEs Minister Darko Horvat said that the government would focus on absorbing as much EU funds as possible.
He said that the government planned to absorb EU funding worth one billion kuna this year. In the budget, to be adopted by the government this week, the most vulnerable entrepreneurial groups - micro and small businesses - will be identified and common rules will be defined for a part of small and medium businesses so that EU funds are made available to all, Horvat said.
Economy Minister Tomislav Panenic said that better organised women meant greater resilience of the economy to instability. He, too, underlined that programmes applying for EU funding would be encouraged.
