Salzburg Forum coordinators meet in Zagreb

The coordinators of the Salzburg Forum on Friday met in Zagreb where they are expected to present a joint ministerial statement regarding cooperation in migration issues, border managements and the fight against terrorism, which will be adopted at a ministerial conference in Dubrovnik on June 14, the Croatian Interior Ministry said in a statement.

The meeting in Zagreb is held as part of Croatia's six-months presidency of the Salzbug Forum. It is attended by representatives of Poland, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Macedonia.

"Representatives of the Salzburg Forum will talk about the achievements made within the framework of the joint concept and those are cooperation in migration challenges and the 18-month programme of the Tripartite Presidency of Bulgaria, Croatia and the Czech Republic," the statement said.

The Salzburg Forum is comprised of nine EU member states from central and southeastern Europe. Croatia started taking part in the forum in 2006 as an observer and became a full member in May 2012. It took over the six-months rotating Presidency on 1 January 2016, succeeding Bulgaria. On June 30 it will hand over the presidency to the Czech Republic.

Croatia's presidency was focused on three priorities -- stepping up cooperation between member states on the migration and asylum front, controlling and supervising state borders and preventing people trafficking.
