Croatian Parliament Speaker Zeljko Reiner said the first regular sitting of the parliament would be held on Friday, January 22 ,when Prime Minister-designate Tihomir Oreskovic is expected to present his government and programme and when parliamentary committees will be appointed.
The session is called for Friday because the government is expected to be formed by then and we did not want to create additional costs, Reiner said.
According to Reiner, it is expected that it will be a marathon session. The plan is to appoint the Appointments Committee first, after which the session will be adjourned so that the committee can nominate other parliamentary committees. It is possible that parliamentary delegations to international organisations will also be appointed on Friday.
PM-designate Oreskovic is then expected to present his government and programme, after which a debate would follow and a vote of confidence in the government, Reiner said.
He expects the names of five deputy parliament speakers to be revealed next week.
