Reiner says isn't HDZ parliament speaker candidate

Deputy Parliament Speaker Zeljko Reiner of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) said on Tuesday he was confident that the new parliament would be constituted on Thursday and dismissed speculation that he was the HDZ candidate for the position of new parliament speaker, adding that the party had not yet discussed this.

Talking to the press ahead of the international conference "Economy and Higher Education", Reiner declined to speculate how many stand-ins the HDZ would send to parliament for its deputies holding local offices, saying that Thursday would be the day for interpretations of individual legal aspects of the parliamentary Standing Orders and laws referring to the incompatibility of office.
