Registered unemployment falls to 14.4 pct

The registered unemployment rate in May 2016 fell to 14.4 percent from 15.9% in April, the national statistical office said on Thursday.

In May 2016, registered unemployment decreased 1.5 percentage points monthly and 2.4 pp annually.

The decrease for the fourth consecutive month was expected, given that 232,327 jobless were registered with the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ) at the end of May 2016, down 8.7% on the month and 15.6% on the year.

Today 220,561 jobless are registered with the HZZ, about 12,000 fewer than at the end of May.
