Q2 survey unemployment rate down to 12.8%

The survey unemployment rate in Croatia fell to 12.8% in the second quarter of 2016 from 15.5% in the same period of 2015, the results of a labour force survey carried out by the National Bureau of Statistics (DZS) show.

The survey unemployment rate in the second quarter of 2016 was 2.6 percentage points lower than in the first quarter of the year, when it stood at 15.4%.

The number of unemployed people in the second quarter of 2016 was 238,000, or 57,000 fewer than in the second quarter of 2015.

The number of people in gainful employment in the second quarter of 2016 was 1.62 million, which was about 55,000 more than in the first quarter of 2016 and 18,000 more than in the second quarter of 2015.

The employment-to-population ratio in the second quarter of 2016 was 45.1%, up from 43.2% in the previous quarter and from 44.5% in the second quarter of 2015.

The economically active population rate was 51.7%, compared with 51.1% in the first quarter of 2016 and 52.7% in the second quarter of 2015.
