Protesting veterans urge voters not to vote for SDP

War veterans, who have been protesting outside the Ministry of Veterans' Affairs in Zagreb for more than a year, called on veterans and other voters on Friday not to vote for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Sunday's parliamentary election but for "the Croatian future", without specifying the party of their preference.

One of the protest leaders, Djuro Glogoski, told a press conference that "the source of evil for the Croatian veterans, the Homeland War and the Croatian people and state originates from Ibler Square," alluding to SDP headquarters in Zagreb.

Glogoski accused SDP leader and incumbent Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic of "lying, insulting the veterans, belittling the Croatian people and degrading the Croatian state."

When asked whom he saw as "the Croatian future", Glogoski did not give a straight answer, saying only that those are the people who do not insult Croatian war veterans. "The Croatian people knew who to vote for in 1990 and they will also know that on Sunday," he concluded.
