President inclined to call early election for Sept 11

President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said on Friday she had not yet decided on the date of the early election, adding that she was inclined to schedule the vote for September 11.

"I will call the election within the legal time frame. I have to wait until July 15 and then I will call the election, most likely for the beginning of September. I have not decided (the date) yet, but I am inclined for it to be September 11," Grabar-Kitarovic told the N1 television channel.

She said she preferred September 11 to September 4 because school starts on September 5. "No one wants to deal with politics during summer. No one wants their holidays to be taken up by political campaigning. People want a rest from politics too. I want to leave September 4 to families to be together with their children before they go back to school," the president said.
