Robert Podolnjak told Croatian Television on Wednesday that he was still not the candidate of the Bridge (MOST) reformist party for the position of parliament speaker, given that Bridge caucus did not have the required one third of seats in parliament to be able to nominate its own candidate.
He also said that at talks with both the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Bridge discussed all possibilities and potential names.
We are also open to the proposal to have a member of the HDZ-led Patriotic coalition be nominated for the position of parliament speaker should that candidate have the support of the SDP and vice versa. He added he expected the two coalitions to have their own candidates because unlike Bridge, they have the necessary one third of seats each.
When asked directly if he would be nominated for the position of parliament speaker on Thursday, on behalf o Bridge, Podoljnjak said it would difficult to answer that hypothetical question. Je also added the negotiations with both the HDZ and the SDP would continue.
