PM: Gov't open for business

Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic  said on Tuesday that over the past 30 days he had talked with investors and told them that the government was open for business and that it would do everything to attract investments.

Speaking at a conference "A Turning-Point Budget", organised by the EPH and Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK), he underscored that a meeting about one month ago in Kitzbuhel, Austria was the first opportunity to present his plan and ideas to investors who hold more than 80% of Croatia's debt. "I can say that they reacted positively," Oreskovic added.

He added that now the government was waiting for the budget as that is the first step that would show the government's direction. He said that spreads on Croatian government bonds were being reduced which means that investors had started to buy them convinced that the economy would be set in motion and that the new government was focused on investments and creating a positive climate.

He recalled that in Brussels he had told the European Commission what changes would be introduced to improve the economic climate. He announced that European Commissioner for the Euro and Social Dialogue Valdis Dombrovskis was coming to Croatian on Friday.

Oreskovic reflected on the EBRD summit in London held on Monday and said that the results of the talks were good.

"It is important to me as prime minister that we start changing the climate. Starting from Brussels and London, we are confident that we have set that in motion," Oreskovic said and added that he wished to show that Croatia was open for business and that the government would do everything to attract investments.
