PM-designate confident to form gov't in next 30 days

Prime Minister-designate Tihomir Oreskovic on Monday arrived at the Croatian Parliament for its inaugural session, expressing confidence that he would form the new government in the next 30 days.

"We will work to form ministries within 30 days, which is the time frame within which I believe we will form the government," Oreskovic told reporters.

Oreskovic said he had not heard of speculations that people from Privredna Banka Zagreb and Agrokor would be sitting on his government.

"I have not heard about such speculations, we will choose the best people who will form the government and who are ready to work for Croatia's well-being," he said.

He would not speak about any names. "We do not know anything at the moment, we will receive proposals, I will analyse them, we will sit down and analyse the candidates and choose the best ones," Oreskovic said.

Answering a reporter's question, he said that criteria for the selection of government ministers were yet to be defined but that they would be made known very soon.

Speaking about the future government's first moves, he said that it was important that Europe and international agencies saw the new government's make-up, that the new government was ready for changes and reforms and that that was good for Croatia.

"The reforms will lead to investments that will eventually strengthen the national economy," Oreskovic said.
