The leader of the Bridge reformist party, Bozo Petrov, said on Sunday they were still waiting for Tihomir Oreskovic to decide whether he would be their candidate for prime minister, and if he declined, Petrov was ready to take up the post.
"We are waiting for Mr Oreskovic's decision and after that we will be able to talk to other candidates," Petrov said in an interview with the RTL television network when asked to to name Bridge's candidates for prime minister.
Asked if he could take up the post of prime minister, Petrov replied in the affirmative. "If I compare myself with (previous HDZ candidate) Mr Karamarko and (SDP candidate) Mr Milanovic, I can say that I can only be better," he said.
Asked about possible cooperation with the centre-right Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and the centre-left Social Democratic Party (SDP), Petrov said he would not want to discuss any pre-election coalitions given what these parties had done - the SDP during post-election negotiations and the HDZ during their term in government.
"I don't think it makes any sense talking to such people until they themselves decide to purge their own ranks," he said.
