Petrov says vote of confidence in government Wednesday

The president of the Bridge party, Bozo Petrov, said on Monday he expected parliament to give a vote of confidence in the new Croatian government on Wednesday.

Asked when he expected a vote of confidence to be given in the new government, Petrov said "I expect that to happen the day after tomorrow."

If the government is given a vote of confidence by then, Croatian Democratic Union chief and PM-designate Andrej Plenkovic will travel to Brussels on Thursday and attend a European Council meeting as Croatia's prime minister, Petrov said.

Asked about Bridge's candidates for ministerial positions in the new government, Petrov said three ministers from the Bridge party who also sat in the previous government were candidates -- Slaven Dobrovic is a candidate for environmental protection minister, Ante Sprlje would again be justice minister and Vlaho Orepic interior minister. Another Bridge member, Ivan Kovacic, who was not a member of the previous government will be proposed to parliament as a new deputy prime minister and public administration minister.
