Petrov says Bridge will insist on its demands but won't jeopardise gov't formation

The head of the Bridge party, Bozo Petrov, said on Monday that Bridge would insist on its seven demands, however, the party would not jeopardise the forming of the government.

After a session of the Bridge National Council, Petrov told the press that parliament would be constituted on Friday and that his party's demands would be included in the session's agenda.

"New laws will be adopted within several days, and I purposely will not specify how many days. However, should the procedure require it, or should debates last long (...) we will not bring into question the forming of the government, but parliament will most definitely start with intensive work to implement the seven demands we have agreed with the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ)," Petrov said.

Regarding the demand to reduce the wage budget in local self-government units from 20% to 15% of public revenues, Petrov said it was agreed with partners that a law to that end would be adopted now and its application start on 1 January 2018. He stressed enough time would be given to local and regional self-government units to adapt, adding that a complete reform of the local and regional administration would follow.
