Leaders of the parties in the People's Coalition in Zabok on Saturday signed an agreement on running together at the coming parliamentary election.
The agreement was signed by the president of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Zoran Milanovic, Croatian People's Party (HNS) chief Ivan Vrdoljak, Croatian Peasant party (HSS) president Kresimir Beljak and Croatian Pensioners' Party (HSU) leader Silvano Hrelja.
"We are not in Zabok by accident. Tangible results of our work, efforts, success and sometimes failure in the past four years were first visible here," Milanovic said after the signing. He announced the coalition would be oriented towards work and education.
Beljak told the press the coalition would not deal with the past but with the future, the future of Croatian children, the Croatian rural areas and cities, the nation and all citizens, regardless of their religious or national background.
Vrdoljak said the coalition would take political responsibility and restore dignity not only to political institutions but to Croatian citizens. It would create the future through a modern education system and a developed economy and it will prove that Croatia can do better than in the past year, Vrdoljak said.
Hrelja stressed that the signing of the coalition agreement could mean a pivotal event for Croatia, saying that the people needed "a better, prettier and smarter Croatia" which is progressing and protecting the weak.
President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic decided on Saturday that early parliamentary election will be held on Sunday, September 11.
