Over 6,300 migrants pass through Slavonski Brod refugee centre in last 24 hours

Over the last 24 hours 6,304 migrants have passed through the refugee transit centre at Slavonski Brod, and about 2,000 are currently staying there, police spokeswoman Kata Nujic told a press conference.

Nujic said that 411,875 migrants had arrived in Croatia since mid-September when the country was hit by an influx of refugees and migrants fleeing war and hardship in the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

She noted that not a single incident had been recorded at the Slavonski Brod refugee centre since it was opened on November 3, adding that the transit of refugees was proceeding without problem.

The Slovenian police said on Wednesday morning that 1,136 migrants and refugees had arrived by train in Dobova from Croatia at 6am and a further 700 had arrived by bus via the Petisovci border crossing.

After being registered and provided with the necessary humanitarian assistance, they are transferred to transit centres and from there to the Sentilj border crossing with Austria where 4,200 are currently waiting to be allowed into Austria. About 1,000 migrants entered Austria during the night.

Five trains with 5,269 migrants entered Slovenia on Tuesday and about 1,000 were still at the reception centre in Dobova on Wednesday.

A total of 230,800 refugees and migrants have entered Slovenia since mid-October, the police said.
