Ostojic: USKOK confirmed Grmoja and Petrov's allegations false

Outgoing Minister of the Interior Ranko Ostojic said on Wednesday that the anti-corruption office USKOK's findings about Bridge party leader Bozo Petrov not having been under surveillance had only confirmed his earlier claims.

"USKOK has confirmed that the allegations by (Bridge party spokesman Nikola) Grmoja and Petrov are not true. This is not a private matter but a question of protecting people who work in the system and who have been accused falsely and without any evidence," Ostojic told Hina.

Earlier in the day USKOK said that Bridge leader Petrov had not been under any kind of surveillance measures.

An investigation has revealed that Petrov was not under surveillance, that his phone calls were not tapped or data on his phone contacts examined, USKOK said on its website.

Commenting on this, Grmoja said that the results of USKOK's investigation were as expected but that the media had only reported on the fact that USKOK had conducted an interview with him "as the person who made his suspicions public, but not on who else was questioned and what other measures were taken."

He stressed that the public should wait for the conclusion of the Parliamentary Home Affairs and Foreign Policy Committee which has received a complaint saying that Interior Minister Ranko Ostojic had Bozo Petrov under surveillance, namely that he had ordered an examination of his phone contacts.
