Orthodox Christians celebrating Easter

Orthodox Christians, who follow the old Julian calendar, were celebrating Easter on Sunday, and Serb Metropolitan Bishop Porfirije led a liturgy in the packed Temple of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Zagreb.

He congratulated Easter to the faithful, saying that resurrection represented victory over death.

Serb Orthodox believers celebrated Easter in the eastern Croatian town of Vukovar as well.

A Serb Orthodox dignitary read out an Easter message from the head of the Serb Orthodox Church, Patriarch Irinej.
