Orepic says Oreskovic held consultations before going to Germany

Caretaker Interior Minister Vlaho Orepic said on Saturday that Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic had consulted him about the migration and refugee issue ahead of today's meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Asked by the press if the caretaker premier should have consulted political figures in Croatia before going to Berlin, as claimed by President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, Orepic said Oreskovic had consulted "whom he needed to." He said Oreskovic had talked with him before the trip and that he briefed him about the current situation.

Orepic said there were no indications that the migrant situation might escalate. "The green border" is under control and there are no indications of breakthroughs from the Serbian side, he added. He said there were accommodation facilities at Tovarnik. "Croatia is ready in all of its potential."

Grabar-Kitarovic said yesterday that Oreskovic should have consulted "political figures in the country (before going to Germany) because the migration issue that will be discussed is too serious."
