The chairman of the Osijek-Baranja County branch of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Domagoj Hajdukovic, on Wednesday announced his candidacy for the new leader of this party after the incumbent Zoran Milanovic said he would not re-run for the post.
The 35-year-old Hajdukovic writes on his Facebook account that his plan is to "restore confidence into the Left and build an inclusive SDP".
Hajdukovic, who was a member of the previous parliament, did not manage to gain a seat in the ninth legislature in the early vote last Sunday, although he was the first choice on the SDP slate in the constituency No. 4.
Two of the four SDP vice presidents -- Ranko Ostojic and Tonino Picula -- announced that they would fun for the party leadership.
