Number of registered job seekers down 8% in April m-o-m

The number of registered job seekers in Croatia at the end of April was 254,591, which was 21,815 persons or 7.9% less than in March, figures released by the National Employment Service (HZZ) on Tuesday show.

It was the third month in row to see a month-on-month decline in the number of unemployed people. Compared with April 2015, their number fell by 14.3% or 42,497 persons.

The decline in the number of the unemployed has continued in May. Daily figures posted on the HZZ website showed on Tuesday that 246,523 people were currently out of work, which was 8,068 fewer than at the end of April, and 16,385 vacancies were advertised.

HZZ data also showed that 38,302 people had been struck off the employment records in April, which was 3.4% less than in April last year. Of that number, 29,095 found employment.
