New group of Croatian police going to Greece as part of Frontex

A new group of Croatian police officers is going to Greece to participate in a new Frontex mission aimed at dealing with the refugee crisis on the Greek-Turkish sea border, caretaker Interior Minister Ranko Ostojic said in Slavonski Brod on Saturday.

On December 28, the European border management agency Frontex began deploying 293 persons and 15 boats on Greek islands as part of the Poseidon Rapid Intervention operation following Greece's request for additional assistance on its external borders at the Aegean Sea.

Asked by Hina about Croatian police participation in Frontex, Ostojic said Croatia would continue to participate in the Poseidon and Triton operations, and that it was also present on the Macedonian border with equipment and experts.

Ostojic also said that a Frontex mission had still not been established on the Croatian-Serbian border. EU leaders agreed on its establishment in late October.
