Nearly 500,000 migrants pass through Croatia since mid-September

A total of 493,615 migrants fleeing war poverty in the Middle East, Asia and Africa have passed through Croatia since mid-September when the migrant wave hit the country, the Ministry of the Interior said on Saturday.

Between midnight and 9am on Saturday 2,064 migrants arrived in Croatia and 1,022 stayed at the winter reception centre in Slavonski Brod, about 200 kilometres east of Zagreb. The ministry said that the influx of migrants, arriving via Serbia, was expected to continue.
