Minister sees no reason not to implement pension reform

Labour and Pension System Minister Nada Sikic of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) said on Wednesday she did not believe that her party was against the implementation of the pension reform she had proposed.

Asked by reporters about alleged opposition from the HDZ to the proposed reform in the pension system, Minister Sikic said that the reform had been already envisaged by the relevant law already adopted.

Media speculate that some in the HDZ as well as the BUZ party which gathers pensioners and which is a junior partner in the HDZ-ruling coalition seem disinclined to the proposed reform.

While answering the questions from the press when coming to today's government meeting, Minister Sikic said she saw no reason not to carry to the reform.
