Zoran Milanovic, leader of the main opposition party, the Social Democratic Party (SDP), said on Saturday that he would score a convincing victory against his rival for the position of the SDP leader, Zlatko Komadina, and continue to bring together the SDP and other leftist parties, as well as "strike fear in the HDZ."
Asked what could be expected after 9 pm today, when polling stations will be closed in SDP branch offices across the country, and if the winner would take revenge on the loser, Milanovic said that nothing would happen because he would continue leading the party.
"Everyone in the SDP will continue to have their inalienable right to criticise without arguments, including the occasional slandering, that's the way it is. We function that way," he said.
SDP members are voting in the intra-party election at polling stations in the party's city and municipal branches between 9 am and 6 pm today.
The voting is being conducted in accordance with the principle "one member - one vote" just as it was in 2012 when Milanovic was the only candidate.
