Karamarko says new election not an option

Croatian Democratic Union president and First Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Karamarko said on Thursday that a new election was not an option and that everything was taking its course.

Speaking to reporters in Krizevci, he said the negotiations with the Bridge party, notably on appointments, were not easy but that "on everything we negotiated with Bridge so far, we reached an agreement... There were contentious issues, but we solved them and will continue to solve them."

He said a proposal to dismiss Croatian Radio and Television director-general Goran Radman was a good decision. "I've always criticised and pointed out that television is biased, partisan and ideological, yet it should be a public service for which we all pay. If we all pay, it's unacceptable that some political options are insulted and kept in the background. That's neither professional nor good."
