Karamarko: Pusic isn't our choice but will have government's technical support

Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) president and First Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Karamarko said on Sunday that Vesna Pusic was not their candidate for the UN secretary-general and that he would never vote for her, but that she would have the government's technical support.

Karamarko said Pusic was a poor candidate of the previous government. "A minimum civilised attitude in this situation is that we won't stop her and the doors of Croatian diplomatic offices abroad won't be closed for her," he told reporters when asked if the government supported Pusic's candidacy.

He said Pusic would probably also have the Foreign Ministry's technical support. He said he did not hear that signatures against her candidacy were being collected in parliament.
