Karamarko: It's vital to revive rural areas and food production

Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) leader Tomislav Karamarko said on Friday before the continuation of talks between the HDZ and the reformist Bridge party on energy, environmental protection, agriculture and rural development, that both parties considered it of vital importance to revive rural areas and food production in Croatia.

"We both think it is important to renew food production in order to strike a balance with the so-called import lobby," Karamarko told the press outside the HDZ headquarters when asked what he expected from the continuation of post-election negotiations with the Bridge party.

The Bridge party continued negotiations on reforms with the centre-left Croatia Is Growing coalition, led by the Social Democratic Party (SDP), on Friday morning, and negotiations with the HDZ's Patriotic Coalition are due to resume in the afternoon. It is the third round of talks as a precondition for Bridge's support to the new government.
