Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) member of Parliament Gordan Jandrokovic said on Wednesday that the HDZ should review the expediency of the motion for the impeachment of Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic or leave it to the MPs to vote according to their conscience.
"After today's statement by Bridge leader Bozo Petrov and letter sent to us by the MEPs from the HDZ, which is very well reasoned, the HDZ parliamentary group should reopen a discussion on the expediency of the motion for the prime minister's impeachment or leave it to the MPs to vote according to their conscience," Jandrokovic told Hina.
Although he had signed the motion himself, together with 41 other members of the HDZ parliamentary group, Jandrokovic warned on Tuesday that failure to form a new majority would mean an early election and that the only party to profit from it would be the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Jandrokovic told Hina that he had signed the motion for a vote of no confidence in the prime minister because it was based on the conclusions of the HDZ's presidency and main committee. "The parliamentary group is not an independent body and has the obligation to abide by decisions of the HDZ's main bodies," he said.
