HSS leader suspends about 100 party members

Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) leader Kreso Beljak will suspend about 100 party members for "obstructing the parliamentary election", including the HSS member of the European Parliament Marijana Petir and other high-ranking officials.

Beljak confirmed this to Hina before an extraordinary press conference he had called for 10am on Wednesday, at which he would talk about the situation in the party following Sunday's early parliamentary election.

Petir has written on her Facebook page that the Croatian people showed at the parliamentary election which way they wanted to go and which values they believed in.

She also said that the HSS needed a leadership that would respect its fundamental values and would fight for them.

The HSS is a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP)-led People's Coalition which lost the election to the centre-right Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
