Croatian Radio and Television (HRT) said on Monday it would broadcast an election debate between the leaders of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Andrej Plenkovic and Zoran Milanovic, respectively, at 8 pm on August 12.
This will be the first televised debate between the leaders of the two most influential political parties in Croatia after more than 13 years and it will take place ahead of the start of a campaign for the early parliamentary election set for September 11.
The public broadcaster said it received on Monday afternoon a notification from the HDZ saying that Plenkovic would participate in the debate while Milanovic confirmed his participation last week.
The host of the 70-minute debate will be Mislav Togonal and the two political leaders will discuss home and foreign policies, economy and finance, health and social policies, demography and education, and worldview issues.
