A member of the Croatian People's Party (HNS) Presidency, Srdjan Gjurkovic, said on Saturday that a procedure had been launched to elect the party's new leadership, announcing party meetings across the country to discuss the matter.
"Two days ago the HNS Presidency decided to launch intra-party elections for a new president," Gjurkovic told reporters in Split.
In March, the party's main committee will hold a session and open candidacies for the post of HNS president, he said.
The president of the HNS branch in Split, Goran Kovacevic, said that the party would closely watch moves by Prime Minister-Designate Tihomir Oreskovic and the new government.
"The HNS will be a constructive Opposition and will continue defending civic values and a civic Croatia," he said.
