HNS chief says HSS welcome in joint coalition

Croatian People's Party (HNS) president Ivan Vrdoljak said on Wednesday the HNS had no problems regarding the number of possible places on the election slate the Social Democratic Party (SDP) was allegedly offering to the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) in the negotiations, stressing that the HSS was welcome in the joint coalition as long as it was ready to assume responsibility.

"If the colleagues from the HSS assume responsibility in the segment of deputy prime minister and in key agricultural ministry and they know what to do to bring results -- they are welcome," Vrdoljak told Nova TV.

Asked if, by the number of places offered to the HSS, the SDP would try to reduce the influence of the HNS in the future coalition, Vrdoljak reiterated they had no problems. "Our influence is in line with our election results and our abilities to manage certain ministries. This is how it will be in the future government as well," Vrdoljak said.
