HNS chief says 82 signatures collected for parliament dissolution

The head of the Croatian People's Party (HNS), Ivan Vrdoljak, said after consultations in the President's Office on Friday that he had notified the president that as many as 82 signatures in favour of the dissolution of the 151-seat parliament had been collected, adding that the the talks also focused on a potential date of snap election.

"We confirmed that we we have submitted the signatures and that it was obvious that the number of submitted signatures is 82 and that we expect agreement with the parliament speaker regarding a date of parliament dissolution. It is our wish that that date be 15 July in order to avoid election in August," Vrdoljak said.

He said that in his opinion, no government reshuffle, namely a new parliamentary majority,  was possible by 15 July.

Vrdoljak said that the consultations focused on the potential date of early election, adding that the HNS believes election should be held on September 4 or 11.
