HDZ invites Bridge to continue negotiations

The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) on Tuesday invited the Bridge Party on its Twitter account to continue with negotiations on forming a government and after returning from consultations with President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, HDZ leader Tomislav Karamarko told reporters that Bridge obviously had good reasons to terminate negotiations with the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

"It's obvious that Bridge had good reasons to do that. After all this tiring negotiating and the good will they showed, constantly bringing the SDP back into the game, to talks, if something like that did occur, then their reason is justified," Karamarko said outside HDZ headquarters.

"We'll see what will happen this afternoon. The President has her powers and will certainly behave responsibly," he said, claiming that the HDZ and the Patriotic Coalition's intention was to start working for the benefit of citizens as soon as possible.

He recalled that they had sent a letter to Bridge on Monday stating that they were prepared to continue with negotiations. "If that is a base for new talks, we are absolutely in the mood. Our letter to Bridge was indeed fair, anyone can see themselves in it," Karamarko said, adding that no one from Bridge had contacted them yet.
