HDZ to begin final phase of talks with Bridge on Friday

The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) is beginning a final phase of negotiations on the formation of a new government with the Bridge party on Friday, HDZ leader Tomislav Karamarko announced on Thursday.

"The HDZ is beginning a final phase of negotiations with Bridge tomorrow and I think we are making progress. I don't know what will be with the SDP because that depends on Bridge and them," Karamarko said, adding that the Social Democratic Party was only interested in positions.

Karamarko said that the SDP's offer of the post of prime minister to Bridge leader Bozo Petrov was one of Milanovic's unconvincing twists. "He is constantly changing his opinion and is only interested in preserving positions," he told the press outside the HDZ headquarters.

Karamarko said he was confident that the HDZ and its Patriotic Coalition would reach an agreement with Bridge.
