Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic on Thursday received EU Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Vytenis Andriukaitis, whom she informed about matters pertaining to Croatia's public health policy, her office said.
The president spoke about children and youth health, the need to change bad dietary habits and promote the importance of physical activity.
Grabar-Kitarovic and Andriukaitis also spoke about the need to raise awareness of the harm caused by alcohol and tobacco consumption and the importance of activities by the relevant state institutions aimed at preventing their use.
They concluded that it was necessary to step up joint efforts regarding the protection of human health and measures of prevention, in ensuring quality nutrition, and in launching programmes and campaigns about the importance of health.
President Grabar-Kitarovic said Croatia would stay committed to promoting healthy lifestyles.
