FM: No mention of Hasanbegovic, Lozancic in Munich

Foreign Minister Miro Kovac has said that during his talks at a Munich security conference there was no mention of Culture Minister Zlatko Hasanbegovic, whose resignation has been demanded by the Opposition, nor of the case of Dragan Lozancic, whose dismissal as the Croatian Security-Intelligence Agency (SOA) chief was signed by the head of state but has not yet been co-signed by the prime minister.

"This is a product of stories at home. No one mentioned this in Munich. We are a developed democracy in which everyone has the right to say what they think," Kovac said when asked by the RTL commercial television on Sunday whether he had encountered criticism in Munich following accusations from the Opposition that the new government was bringing "fascisation" of the society.

From Friday to Sunday, Kovac and President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic attended the international security conference in the Bavarian capital.

As for the case of Lozancic, Kovac said that "Croatia is an independent and sovereign country. We take care about ourselves and the Croatian future here.  Believe me, this was not a topic in Munich or anywhere else."

Regarding the ongoing refugee crisis, Kovac said that Croatia's option "is to cooperate efficiently with Slovenia, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece, Austria and Germany."

If Austria and Slovenia close their borders, Croatia will follow suit, according to the minister.
