A month-long detention has been set for recently replaced police official Zeljko Dolacki who is accused of a robbery at the Zagreb Criminal Investigation Department that occurred in the night between April 3 and 4.
A total of two kilograms of gold, 640,000 kuna and 280,000 euros have been stolen from police headquarters during the robbery.
Judge Erna Drazancic on Saturday set a month-long detention against Dolacki to prevent him from witness tampering.
Dolacki is suspected of taking and retaining two kilogrammes of gold, 640,000 kuna and 280,000 euro, temporarily confiscated during a crime investigation and of falsely reporting the burglary.
According to the anti-corruption office USKOK, Dolacki staged a robbery to cover up his theft.
Dolacki's lawyer said his client denied all charged against him.
The robbery at the Zagreb Criminal Investigation Department that occurred in the night between April 3 and 4 was the reason for the resignations offered by Chief Police Director Vlado Dominic, the head of the Zagreb police directorate, Goran Burisic, and another two senior police officials in Zagreb, and for the suspension of police official Dolacki.
