Economy Minister Tomislav Panenic on Monday received a Chinese delegation touring 16 Central and Eastern European countries to prepare future cooperation as part of the "China+16" initiative, the government reported in a press release.
The Chinese delegation expressed their country's interest and wish for Croatia's Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic to attend the next "China+16" summit to be held in Riga, Latvia in October or November, the press release says.
The talks highlighted that the China+16 initiative was becoming increasingly interesting in central and eastern European countries.
"The Croatian government is interested in further deepening and intensifying cooperation with China through bilateral relations, EU-China relations and relations with China+16. The meeting focused on potential projects that are interesting for the Chinese, particularly in the infrastructure, energy, tourism and industry sectors," the press release says.
Minister Panenic was accompanied at the meeting by President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic's deputy chief-of-staff Tomislav Pokaz. The Chinese delegation comprised a special Chinese Foreign Ministry envoy for cooperation within the China+16 initiative, Ambassador Huo Yuzehn and Chinese Ambassador to Croatia Deng Ying.
