Croatian president reiterates her support to Bosnia's EU membership bid

President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic has said that Croatia will continue strongly supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina's European Union membership bid and also efforts to enable local Croats to enjoy the same status as the other two constituent peoples: Bosnian Muslims (Bosniaks) and Serbs.

"Croatia believes that Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue making headway at a faster and a faster pace, and Zagreb will encourage it on its journey towards the EU," the Croatian head of state said at a ceremony organised by the Bosnian edition of the Croatian newspaper "Vecernji List" in Mostar on Monday evening.

Being rich in culture and heritage of co-existence and diversity, Bosnia and Herzegovina will enrich the EU and confirm the EU motto 'United in Diversity'," she added.

She said that in her capacity as the Croatian president she would persist in assisting the Croat people in Bosnia and Herzegovina to exercise its rights.

Grabar-Kitarovic called on local Croats to show "genuine patriotism" and respect for the other peoples with whom they were building the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina,

In attendance at the ceremony in the southern city of Mostar were Bosnia and Herzegovina's presidency members as well as presidents, Andrej Kiska of Slovakia and Filip Vujanovic of Montenegro, apart from Croatia's Grabar-Kitarovic and Parliament Speaker Zeljko Reiner.
