Croatian Parliament Speaker Zeljko Reiner on Thursday received the newly-appointed Iranian Ambassador, Mohammad Reza Sadegh, a Parliament press release said.
They concluded that bilateral relations between Croatia and Iran were good, noting that the relations between the two countries had particularly advanced after Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic's official visit to Iran.
Reiner said that parliamentary cooperation between the two countries was also good.
On the other hand, economic relations are not satisfactory, and there is a great potential for cooperation in energy, transport, pharmaceutical products, shipbuilding, construction, IT and tourism, the press release said.
Reiner informed the Iranian ambassador about World Halal Day which will be marked in the northern Adriatic resort town of Opatija in November. The event will be organised by the Islamic community in Croatia.
They agreed that this event would certainly help Croatia become recognised as a destination that appreciates halal food, and that it would also contribute to further advancement of economic and friendly relations between Croatia and Islamic countries.
