The Media Development Centre, a joint project of the Croatian Journalists' Association (HND) and the Norwegian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), was presented in Zagreb on Monday, with HND president Sasa Lekovic assessing it as a very important contribution to the education of journalists and their adjusting to new media industry demands.
Lekovic said a dozen training courses would be organised over the next six months for HND members as well as other journalists and about 60 workshops, among other things.
NIJ executive director Eivind Lind underlined the importance of acquiring new practical knowledge and skills for journalists. He said the media industry had problems, but not journalism, and that in developed European societies there was an increasing demand for quality journalism which always has its price.
The presentation was also addressed by Norwegian Ambassador Astrid Versto, among others.
