During the commemoration of Croatian Martyrs' Day, observed on the last Saturday in August, in Udbina, 150 km south of Zagreb, Military Bishop Jure Bogdan said during a commemorative service that "it is in vain that our ancestors died for the Christian faith and freedom, if we do not live an upright Christian life and if we do not respect the dignity of marriage and family, the nucleus of the society."
Bishop Bogdan called on the faithful to be engaged committedly in efforts to develop Croatia and to work to the benefit of all citizens.
In attendance at the service led by Military Ordinary Bogdan were ten bishops and several thousand pilgrims.
